Three short years ago, no one saw this coming. But then again, that was when Jamie Vardy was a little known name playing for Fleetwood Town FC – a far cry from the bright lights of the top of the table in the English Premier League. Despite being a rising star in League One, the third division of English football, Vardy was about as far from a household name as it gets. How far? Well, let's just put it this way: "Vardy Orthodontics" was a higher ranking search result for "Vardy" during the 2011-2012 season than Jamie Vardy, future star and toast of England. As of today, it takes three pages of search results to get past THE Jamie Vardy and "Vardy breaks goal scoring record" headlines.
It's fitting then, that Vardy broke the record for goal-scoring streak in the Premier League against the former record holder's club: Manchester United.
Ruud van Nistelrooy set the record with the Red Devils back in 2003-2004, netting 15 goals in 10 games, assisted by the likes of David Beckham, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes. Over 10 years later, Vardy has come (seemingly) out of nowhere to set a new record with 14 goals in 11 games – and that's as of half-time in game number 11. Who knows how far this streak can extend, with Vardy playing like England's own Cristiano Ronaldo (JV7 has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?). Check out his handiwork below.

Despite what you think of the record, you have to appreciate what Vardy has done to shake up the Premier League this season. Only 3 clubs – Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City – have won the Premier League title in the last 10 years. Which, let's be honest, is a pretty boring statistic. With a £1 million transfer now leading the Premier League in Jamie Vardy, we can't wait to see what else Leicester City has in store for us this season.
