America is on one of their biggest soccer highs ever after watching its women take home the World Cup from Canada 2015, and now hopefully that momentum is being shifted over to the men as they prepare to take on Honduras in the Gold Cup opener.
The tournament lasts from July 7th to July 26th, with the group stage taking place over eight days in which each nation will play three games. The USA have an emphatic 28-1-2 record since the inaugural match in 1991, and look to extend that record even further in order to become the team to fear in July.
The twelve countries fighting for the cup will take a tour across America all the way up to the final, which will be hosted in Philadelphia at Lincoln Financial Field. In order to get there, countries will have to survive the single elimination games at the quarterfinals, July 18-19, and the semifinals, July 22. The third place match will take place on July 25th, followed by the final match a day later on July 26.
The full schedule and grouping list can be found here.
The Gold Cup will be broadcasted on FOX’s family of networks, switching between FOX Sports 1 and 2, as well as BT Sport.
