Reviewing the list of the most watched YouTube videos of all time will make you question your faith in humanity. Trust us, we've done it.
At the top of the list of most viewed YouTube videos is Gangnam Style. The video for this song has been viewed over 2.5 billion times at the time of this writing. Last time we checked, there were only 7 billion people in the world – and only 3 billion of them with access to the Internet. So, it's pretty much guaranteed that if you're a person reading this article with a pulse, you've seen this video. And probably heard the corresponding song at a minimum of seven wedding receptions. Which is six-and-a-half too many.
The list of the most watched YouTube videos doesn't get any better after #1. It includes some of the weirdest videos you'll ever see. And a lot of people have seen them.
Take, for instance, "Play Doh Ice cream cupcakes playset playdough by Unboxingsurpriseegg" – viewed a cool 750 million times. Or "The Gummy Bear Song – Long English Version" (as if the short English version wasn't enough) – viewed 715 million times and counting.
Which got us wondering: Why are people so weird? And also, what are the most watched football videos of all time and are they ridiculous?
So, we did some digging. Which is to say, we watched a lot of ridiculous football videos and some cool ones. It turns out the soccer fans among us are just as ridiculous as everyone else. For your viewing pleasure, we bring you the most watched football videos of all time. At least, as of today.
Note: In order for a video to make this list, it either needed to be focused (mostly) on soccer or to feature a soccer player of some renown. And sorry, Shakira, we just couldn't stomach awarding the #1 and #2 spots on this list to your World Cup theme songs from 2010 and 2014. Yes, they may collectively have over 1.5 billion views, but no we still do not like them. So, consider this your honorable mention.
