It’s hardly a surprise for anyone that FIFA named Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano as one of the top ten young soccer players of the year. Having scored 11 goals in 16 matches playing for Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, the 22 year-old Mexican international is off to a blistering start to his European career.
Other young talents acknowledged by FIFA on the aforementioned list are:
Dominic Solanke - England
Federico Valverde - Uruguay
Joshua Sargent - United States
Jean-Kevin Augustin - France
Lewis Cook - England
León Goretzka - Germany
Hirving Lozano - Mexico
Philip Foden – England
Rhian Brewster - England
Jann-Fiete Arp - Germany
Jadon Sancho - England
Moreover, Lozano has scored seven times in 24 fixtures playing for the Mexico National Team. ‘Chucky’ even scored the goal that officially qualified Mexico to the World Cup during the international playoffs.
Rumor has it big European clubs are targeting Lozano as a reinforcement for the next transfer window. The Daily Star recently reported Liverpool and Arsenal are both on the race to purchase Lozano.
Jürgen Klopp and Arsène Wenger are looking to bring in some fresh talent as Alexis Sanchez and Philippe Coutinho look likely to leave Arsenal and Liverpool, respectively, in the near future.
A winger, Lozano has the speed, skills, goal-scoring efficiency and youth any major club in the world looks for. Securing his talent at a young age could very well mean selling him a few seasons later for even more stratospheric amounts.
And even if they didn’t sell him, the would have acquired one of the most desired rising stars in contemporary soccer.
At 22, Hirving Lozano is a highly attractive bet that could turn into an even more valuable asset. This June, PSV signed Lozano coming from Liga MX side Pachuca for a Mexican soccer record amount of €24 Million.
Only a few months later, Arsenal and Liverpool are said to be willing to offer around €50 Million for him, which is double what PSV payed last summer.
PSV fans have taken a liking for Lozano and are sure to be heartbroken if he leaves the Netherlands after only a few months of shining at the Eredivisie.
