James Rodriguez has been the subject of death threats on Twitter as revealed by his mother. The Colombian international received a photo of a box filled with ammunition and a gun while a couple of other weapons are also visible in frame.
“Do you want to see how James would look dead?” said the message from the anonymous user. “I’m coming to your house now, say goodbye to all your loves ones.”

The account which threatened James has since been closed down by Twitter. The Colombian captain has been instrumental in Los Cafeteros push for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, scoring three goals, including vital strikes against Chile and Bolivia.
However, James was unable to play in Colombia’s victory over Paraguay on Thursday, and he’ll also be unavailable for Tuesday’s clash with Uruguay after suffering a calf strain while previously playing for Real Madrid.
Colombia currently sit in fourth place in the CONMEBOL WCQ table, equal on points with both Ecuador and Argentina.
