There are some hits that are just so pure, so instinctual, so well struck and so fucking powerful that they defy everything we thought we knew about sport. There was Albert Pujols’ monster home run off Brad Lidge in the 2005 NLCS that may still be in lower-Earth orbit to this day. Then there’s Matt Prater nailing a 64-yard field goal in the NFL or Andre Agassi’s ridiculous service return. And on Sunday there was this Kevin de Bruyne goal vs Swansea City.
Manchester City returned to the Etihad for its first match since Manchester United’s shock loss to West Brom anointed the Citizens as Premier League champions and they won 45-0 to celebrate. But standing heads and shoulders above every other strike for Pep Guardiola’s side on Sunday was this de Bruyne goal vs Swansea.
With the title already having been clinched, City didn’t have too much to play for on Sunday, other than the pride of trying to set some all-time EPL records. Nonetheless, the Citizens blitzed Swansea with two goals in the opening quarter of an hour. David Silva opened the scoring while Raheem Sterling had a goal and assist before halftime. Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus also scored in the second half.
The only goal that anyone needs to know about was the de Bruyne goal vs Swansea in the 54th minute.
Stop it, De Bruyne. Stop it right now. The Belgian star makes it 3-0 for Man City (:@NBCSportsSoccer) pic.twitter.com/alm6BbRx9u

City scored four other goals but honestly I feel like it would sully the de Bruyne goal vs Swansea to show them here. Just watch de Bruyne’s goal on repeat over and over until the World Cup.
