Marta, the five-time FIFA World Player of the Year, has joined the Orlando Pride on a two-year contract with an option for a third year. With the possibility of Alex Morgan’s short-term loan deal at Lyon running through June (Lyon will have to navigate a Champions League semifinal against Carli Lloyd’s Manchester City to make that a reality) the Orlando Pride have moved quickly to add more star power.
Can't wait to play together again and win another league title! https://t.co/nmdxYBf9sr

Marta, however, transcends that description as she’s probably the greatest player of all time. The 31-year-old has 101 appearances for Brazil and 105 goals, and she led her country to a runners-up finish at the 2007 FIFA World Cup.
Orlando have acquired her on a free transfer from Swedish club FC Rosengard. Marta hasn’t played professionally in the United States since her time with the Western New York Flash in 2011, when they won the WPS title.
Marta joins Kaka, who plays for Orlando City, as the second FIFA World Player of the Year currently plying their trade in the city. Both clubs play in the gorgeous Orlando City Stadium, and it must be incredibly nice to be a soccer fan in Orlando.
