Neymar is simply stunning to watch play. He is everything that we hope a Brazilian superstar would be: creative, unpredictable, lightning on the pitch. He was just ranked as the third-best footballer in the world by The Guardian because he marries these qualities with effectiveness. It’s ironic then, that arguably Neymar’s best play of the year wound up ineffective.
You may want to point out that this run came against the Argentine side River Plate in the Club World Cup, and because of this we all shouldn’t be as impressed with it, because Barcelona’s bench probably has as much talent as River Plate’s entire roster. If you can’t look past that, that’s really too bad, because Neymar is the only player on the planet that could pull off such a ridiculous run. Only he has the speed, the agility, and most importantly the dribbling skills to make the moves you see in it. Eden Hazard can’t pull off this run. Gareth Bale, Alexis Sanchez, Arjen Robben, and Franck Ribery can’t pull off this run. I don’t even think Douglas Costa could pull it off. The only player who I believe could match it is Cristiano Ronaldo…4 years ago. Truly, it is one of a kind.
