Ronaldo has scored a lot of amazing goals, but apparently there is one that keeps him up at night…or haunts his dreams…I don’t know, but the point is there’s a goal that Ronaldo dreams about. Which, considering all of the amazing goals he’s scored, is pretty dreamy for the rest of us humans to contemplate.
“I’ve scored a lot of beautiful goals," he said at the release of his new aftershave (duh).
"What I dream of doing is being able to score after beating all 11 opponents. It’s a PlayStation goal, I think it’s almost impossible to do, but we’ll see.”
OK, let’s just take a minute to put the phrase “playstation goal” into perspective. In fact, let’s take three.
Those were “playstation goals,” those were amazing “playstation goals,” and none of them featured the one-player-beats-eleven beauty that Ronaldo dreams about.
Even Lionel Messi, the king of beating a man and then scoring a goal, has never come close to scoring a goal the likes of which Ronaldo dreams about. Messi’s greatest run against Getafe — the goal that, for me, defines him as a player and is the quintessential solo goal of our time — only beat 7 players by my count.
Ronaldo would have to beat as many players as Messi did against Getafe, and then beat half as many again, in order to score his dream goal.
“Impossible” indeed. More like “not in a million years.”
