This Is Why Keepers Shouldn't Try To Juggle

Aspiring goalies, pay attention: here's a lesson on what not to do with a soccer ball. If you think a keeper juggle is an appropriate soccer move, there may be no hope for you. Unless you are Rene Higuita. Lincoln City keeper Paul Farman should have already known trying to juggle was a bad idea. He did it anyway, and now he may never see the field again.

Keeper Juggle Goes Wrong

In the last few years, chatter has increased concerning the "sweeper-keeper," a mythical creature that both stops the ball from going into the goal and does field player things like dribble and make tackles. Manuel Neuer is the most often cited example of this type of player.

The thing a lot of people fail to bring up in discussions about sweeper-keepers like Neuer is that Neuer doesn't do any of those field-play things unless he has to. The best keepers realize the space directly in front of goal is not a place they should be doodling around with the ball.

That lesson has obviously not been imparted upon Paul Farman.
