Mexico Name Squad For The 2016 Rio Summer Olympics

Mexico have announced the U-23 squad, along with three overage players, that will represent El Tri at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. Having won the gold medal at the previous Olympics in London in 2012, this Mexico squad will be looking to defend their title with the likes of Oribe Peralta, Alfredo Talavera, Erick “Cubo” Torres and Jorge Torres Nilo.

Peralta, Talavera and Nilo represent the three over-23 players for Mexico.

Chile Hammer Mexico Out Of The Copa America

By the 60th minute, it was 5-0 to Chile, and Mexico were playing for pride.

Actually, they weren't even playing for that. They still had pride. They just didn't have anything to show for it. Chile dismantled them in the midfield in the first half for two goals and pounced on dumb mistakes in the second half.

Mexico simply weren't up to it Saturday, putting on one of those performances where you can't point the finger at any one player or decision because you have to point the finger at everyone and everything.

The Spanish-Language Call Of Tecatito's Goal Is Epic

A great goal deserves a great call, and Jesus "Tecatito" Corona's goal against Venezuela Monday definitely deserved a great call.

Fortunately, a great call was provided by Univision announcer Pablo Ramirez Gomez.

Tecatito Scores Best Goal Of The Copa America, Secures First For Mexico In Group

OK. OK. Now that I have had time to breath after Mexico’s thrilling 1-1 draw with Venezuela, a result that gives Mexico first place in Group C, I can relate to all of you what just happened.

WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!?!

Honestly, this Copa America has been one of the most exciting tournaments I have ever seen. Euro 2016 has been good, but not this good. The last World Cup was good, but not this good. And Jesus “Tecatito” Corona just scored the best goal we have seen so far, and we have seen some really good goals.

Don’t believe me? Just watch:

Chicharito Sends Mexico To The Final 8

Who would have thought Mexico would have had a tougher time with Jamaica than Uruguay? Despite the back and forth match, El Tri netted another 2-0 result against a Jamaican side that didn't take advantage of their opportunities. Chicharitos first goal of the tournament was a beauty, and now the Bundesliga star is just 1 goal away from tying all-time leading Mexican scorer Jared Borgetti. El Tri are now in the quarterfinals and will play Venezuela on Monday.

Chicharito Punishes Jamaica In 2-0 Victory For Mexico

Mexico’s task in front of 80,000 plus supporters at the Rose Bowl had been clearly defined following Uruguay’s shock 1-0 defeat to Venezuela earlier in the day. Win and they advanced to the Copa America quarter-finals. Thanks to a powerful header from Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez and a neat finish from Oribe Peralta, Mexico have guaranteed their place in the Copa's knockout rounds.

The 2015-16 European league season will be remembered for a number of reasons: Leicester City’s improbable Premier League title, Real Madrid’s dramatic Champions League triumph and the brilliant return to form of Mexico’s Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez.

The 28-year-old striker enjoyed his finest season since erupting onto the world’s radar with Manchester United in 2010-11. Following four frustrating seasons of being used sparingly as a substitute for both United and Real Madrid, Chicharito seized his opportunity as a regular starter with Bayer Leverkusen in the German Bundesliga.

6 Players That Will Lead Mexico To Victory At The Copa America

Let there be no doubt about it, Mexico’s 3-1 win over Uruguay to open up their Copa America campaign showed Mexico has what it takes to win the competition. The team impressed all around, but there are 6 players we believe will be the most integral to the team’s success.

Andres Guardado's Suspension Means Mexico Have To Be Extra Careful Against Jamaica

Mexico's 3-1 victory over Uruguay Sunday can objectively be called a triumph, and leaves Mexico in full control of their destiny in regards to reaching the Copa America Centenario group stage. The game was not an unequivocal triumph, however, as El Tri lost their sometimes-captain and some would argue best player, Andres Guardado, to a red card.

Guardado will be suspended for Thursday's clash against Jamaica, which raises the question: what are Mexico to do in El Principito's absence?
