Timo Werner Explains Why He Was Happy To Snub Liverpool For Chelsea

Timo Werner said on Wednesday that he was in discussions with Liverpool over a close season transfer but eventually chose Chelsea as they were the perfect fit for his game while manager Frank Lampard also played a key role in making the decision.

Chelsea signed the German striker, 24, in a reported 50 million euros ($59.20 million) deal in June as the London club looked to rebuild their squad ahead of the new season.

Manchester United Captain Tests Positive For Covid-19, Withdrawn From England Camp

Manchester United women's captain Katie Zelem has been withdrawn from England's training camp after testing positive for COVID-19, the FA said on Wednesday.

The FA and the club said the midfielder will now self-isolate for 10 days as per the health protocol.

The Ball Is Round, And Other Intriguing Parallels Between The Premier League And The NBA

With the NBA nearing the climax of its drawn-out season and the Premier League campaign just beginning, I often find myself drawing parallels between the two leagues. While soccer and basketball are very contrasting sports, the NBA and the EPL have a striking number of similarities.

Both are flowing games and have seasons that extend across nearly three quarters of the year. These similarities become more obvious when you consider the coaches, players and teams in each league. Here are some of the best examples corollaries between the two leagues:

Gareth Bale Heavily Linked To Return To Premier League (But Not With Manchester United)

Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with Real Madrid to re-sign winger Gareth Bale, his agent said on Tuesday, as the Wales international looks to end his troubled spell at the Spanish club.

Bale made over 200 appearances for Premier League Spurs between 2007 and 2013, scoring 56 goals with 58 assists before his then world record move to Real for 100 million euros ($118.46 million).

Premier League Power Rankings: How Did Supporters React To Opening Weekend?

The 2020-21 Premier League season began this past weekend with eight fixtures and 16 clubs in action. When the dust had settled, the table showed Arsenal and Leicester City leading the way after vanquishing the newly promoted duo of Fulham and West Brom.

There isn’t much use for Premier League Power Rankings after about six or seven weeks of the season — the table doesn’t lie — but we still want to get in on the action with an exercise that’ll include vastly differing metrics from week-to-week.

Home Cooking Leaves Constipated Feeling In Opening Weekend For EPL And NFL

There’s nothing like September in the sporting calendar.

The crisp, serene, hazy weather of an Indian summer descends on the land. Fall coloring dashes the landscape in vivid hues of earthly life. The crack and smoke of an afternoon barbecue rolls into the flame and warmth of an evening fire pit.

Hoodies come out. The beer grows darker. The movies and TV shows are more frightening. All good things.

Is Christian Pulisic A Worthwhile EPL Fantasy Option?

Premier League fantasy may already be underway, but there are still plenty of questions surrounding some of the top players. Will Bruno Fernandes have an endless number of penalty kick opportunities again this season? Can Danny Ings match his goal-scoring form from last year? Which Manchester City right winger is worth adding?

Man With Most Infectious Smile In The Prem Signs Massive Contract Extension

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has signed a new three-year deal, the Premier League club said on Tuesday, ending speculation over a potential exit as he entered the final year of his contract.

Aubameyang's decision to stay with Arsenal will be a major boost to manager Mikel Arteta who said he wanted to build the squad around the Gabon international after they won the FA Cup last month.

Chelsea Off To Winning Start Thanks To Reece James’ Must-Watch Screamer

Chelsea got their Premier League campaign on track after lethal finishing coupled with a slice of good fortune gave them a 3-1 win at Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday.

New signings Timo Werner and Kai Havertz made their debuts up front after the German internationals joined Frank Lampard's side from the Bundesliga during the close season as Chelsea prevailed thanks to goals from somewhat unlikely sources.
