Super Salah ignites Liverpool's season and hands Man City its first defeat

LIVERPOOL, England - A superb second-half goal from Mohamed Salah earned Liverpool a 1-0 victory over Manchester City on Sunday as the champions lost their unbeaten start to the Premier League season in a heated thriller that saw home coach Jürgen Klopp red-carded.

After an opening period that failed to live up to the game's blockbuster billing, the second half began at a ferocious pace, with Egypt international Salah denied by a superb save from City goalkeeper Ederson moments after the break.

Arsenal overcome Leeds despite massive delay for technical difficulties

Sometimes, the best things in life are worth waiting for. Arsenal and Leeds played a thoroughly fascinating match following a lengthy delay due to technical issues at Elland Road, but it was the Gunners who managed to hold on, only just, against Jesse Marsh’s plucky side.

The hero on the day was Bukayo Saka, who now has four goals and four assists in his last seven Premier league games. The 21-year-old is up for the Kopa trophy this week and his performances in recent weeks can only make his case better.

Manchester United's Mason Greenwood charged with attempted rape, assault

MANCHESTER — British prosecutors said on Saturday Manchester United soccer player Mason Greenwood had been charged with attempted rape, controlling behavior and assault.

The 21-year-old was arrested in January after social media images and videos were posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence.

"The Crown Prosecution Service has today authorized Greater Manchester Police to charge Mason Greenwood, 21, with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm," prosecutor Janet Potter said in a statement.

Will it work? Jürgen Klopp reveals his plan to stop Erling Haaland

Norway striker Erling Haaland is a "perfect fit" for Manchester City and Liverpool will have to find ways to limit his threat in attack in Sunday's Premier League game at Anfield, manager Jürgen Klopp said.

Haaland has made a sensational start at City, scoring 20 goals in 13 matches in all competitions for the league champions since joining them from Borussia Dortmund in the close season.

Preview: Liverpool-Man City a chance for Núñez to show he can rival Haaland

MANCHESTER, England - Both Manchester City and Liverpool spent big to revamp their striker department in the close season, with Erling Haaland and Darwin Núñez tipped to be rivals atop the goalscoring charts, but so far it has been no contest.

City's capture of Haaland and Liverpool's addition of Núñez represented a style shift for both, focusing their forward lines around a central striker, as last season's title rivals tried something different.

After much waiting, Cristiano Ronaldo finally hit the milestone of 700 career club goals after scoring against Everton with Manchester United in the Premier League.

American starlet Gabriel Slonina set to join Chelsea in training for the first time

America's most promising goalkeeping prospect is officially heading abroad, as Gabriel Slonina is set to begin a 13-day training spell with Chelsea.

The youngest signing in Chicago Fire history and the youngest starting keeper in MLS history, Slonina became Chicago's most expensive player ever on Aug. 2 when he joined Chelsea for a $15 million fee. The keeper was then loaned back to the Fire for the remainder of the MLS season.

Erling Haaland reveals the bizarre carnivore diet fueling his goalscoring festival in Manchester City

20 goals in just 13 games for Manchester City. What Erling Haaland does every time he goes onto a soccer pitch seems out of this world, not human. The Norwegian is mauling every competition he sets foot in and questions are starting to pile up trying to understand how he does what he does.

Exercises? Routines? Diet? What's the darn secret?
