MANCHESTER — Erling Haaland and Phil Foden scored hat-tricks to fire champions Manchester City to a rampant 6-3 thrashing of local rivals Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.

City's football was slick, incisive and ruthless in its execution as Haaland claimed his third hat-trick in eight league games and Foden netted his first Premier League treble on a humbling afternoon for United.

LIVERPOOL — A hat trick from Belgian forward Leandro Trossard earned Brighton & Hove Albion a worthy point in an exhilarating 3-3 draw with Premier League title-chasing Liverpool on Saturday.

Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi's first game in charge could not have got off to a better start as two well-taken goals from Trossard gave the visitors a 2-0 lead by the 17 minute mark at a stunned Anfield.

Christian Pulisic assists sensational game-winning goal in 90th minute after subbed on in the 84th

Christian Pulisic made a great impression on new Chelsea manager Graham Potter after assisting the game-winning goal of the Blues’ 2-1 victory vs. Crystal Palace on Saturday. The game was Potter’s first Premier League game in charge for Chelsea.

Pulisic sat on the bench for 84 minutes of the match and was brought on late in the game with the score tied 1-1. He only needed six minutes to make an impact as he assisted fellow substitute Conor Gallagher for the 90th minute game-winner.

Defensive midfielder Douglas Luiz came metaphorically studs up on social media after a famous Brazilian TV journalist shared a disrespectful post on Twitter objectifying Aston Villa Women FC star Alisha Lehmann, who is also Luiz's girlfriend.

Milton Neves, a 71-year-old presenter, tweeted a clip of Lehmann celebrating a goal a la Cristiano Ronaldo, but in slow-motion and with the camera focusing on the player's derrière. As if that wasn't bad enough, Neves captioned the sequence with the phrase: "Without rewinding the video, what number was on her shirt?"

Football-related arrests in England and Wales up 59% on pre-COVID numbers

A total of 2,198 football-related arrests were made in the 2021-22 season in England and Wales, the highest number since the 2013-14 season, a report by the Home Office said on Thursday.

The 2021-2022 season was the first full season where all scheduled matches were played at full spectator capacity following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The arrests made last season were around 59% higher than those in the 2018-2019 season, which was before the COVID-19 pandemic. The most common offense types were public disorder (36%) and violent disorder (20%).
