What The Hell Was Up With Fox’s Bundesliga Coverage Today?

The German Bundesliga returned to action Saturday with a dozen teams taking the pitch for the first time in two months. Though there were no fans, there was plenty of the passion and excitement we love to see from one of the major European leagues.

For sports fans around the world, this was the first chance to watch elite football since the novel coronavirus pandemic shut down all sporting events.

It seems no one bothered to tell Fox.

What To Listen For In German As Bundesliga Resumes Without Fans

There’s something special, unique and even eerie about watching a professional soccer match with no spectators in an empty, cavernous stadium.

For some, this ruins the experience. What’s football without the fans?

For others, this presents an opportunity.

Without noisy fans muddying the audio waves, a TV crew’s microphones are able to pick up almost every little sound coming from the pitch, be it profanities shouted at the refs or a coach yelling at his team to make a tactical adjustment.

For basketball fans, “The Last Dance” has been a welcome reprieve from a total lack of hoops action over the last two months. The Michael Jordan-centric Chicago Bulls docuseries has been a rating bonanza for ESPN.

But there is no real like-for-like equivalent for soccer fans to dive into during this pandemic.

The 3:00 AM Drinking Game For K League Insomniacs

The world is slowly returning to normalcy as businesses begin to reopen and football is sprouting again.

The Bundesliga aims to return May 16, and South Korea's K League will stream its opening match with English commentary on May 8. There will finally be games to watch on the weekend again.

Megan Rapinoe Is Setting Herself Up To Be The Next Oprah

While many professional athletes have used this recent downtime from sports to relax, hang out with family and stay out of the limelight, one soccer star is doing just the opposite. More than perhaps any athlete over the last two months, Megan Rapinoe has been raising her profile in nearly every way possible.

At this rate, she might just become the next Oprah.

ESPN Makes Desperate Move For Live Match Rights To South Korea’s K League

On Friday, May 8, the K League returns for the 38th season of top-division football in South Korea. Who among us can forget how the 2019 competition ended, with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors capturing the title while Australia international Adam Taggart finished top scorer with 20 goals? What, you don’t remember that?

That’s all poised to change this year with Pohang Steelers, Sangju Sangmu, Costa Rica’s Marco Ureña and Canada’s Doneil Henry ready to storm your TV sets with a bit of live sport on ESPN (at some admittedly ungodly hours).
