After Manchester United’s dismal Champions League elimination at the hands of Wolfsburg this week, Manchester United fans from around the world must have looked at each other and said: “What the hell just happened here?”
All the promise going into this season has disappeared. United’s inability to put together a cohesive and effective attack has lead to their early Champions League exit, and all the people who were excited about the madman master Van Gaal last season are just about ready to call for his head.
So, just what is next for Manchester United? Anything less than a Premier League Championship would certainly cast doubt onto Van Gaal’s future, and with recent rumors of Carlo Ancelotti’s interest in the United job, the Dutchman’s future may indeed be up for review at season’s end.
Experts and fans alike are calling for a full rebuild and perhaps there is no one better than a favorite Manchester United son to lead that overhaul. Manchester United must break the bank and sign Cristiano Ronaldo.
Despite talk of a recent loss of form, Cristiano Ronaldo did what he does best on Tuesday and silenced his critics with a four goal performance in an 8-nil thrashing by Real Madrid over poor Swedish club Malmo. Ronaldo could indeed be just what the Old Trafford doctor ordered.
At 30 years old, Ronaldo still has two to three years in him at top level, and even though his pace may be gradually dwindling, he is still a game changer who can score goal after goal when needed. Also, who better than CR7 to mentor the young brood of attackers blossoming at United? Martial, Memphis and Jesse Lingard would no doubt benefit from the tutelage of one of the world’s best players and specifically with Memphis, maybe Ronaldo is just the man to spark the Dutch youngster out of his rookie English slump. Both men certainly share commonalities in their styles and flashiness, but Memphis still needs guidance no doubt. Again, who better than Ronaldo?
Carlo Ancelotti has also recently come out and said, Ronaldo is easy and a joy to manage so, maybe Ancelotti and Ronaldo are just the dream duo to stop the rot of no-attack-no-hope Manchester United. It would certainly be an improvement on Van Gaal, who seems like he’s totally out of ideas and excuses. So, from all Manchester United fans around the world we hope you are reading and hearing this call Cristiano:
Come home now, Manchester United needs you!
