Adidas just released a new World Cup ball for the knockout stages of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The new ball is called the Telstar Mechta and features plenty of red.

Mechta translates in Russian as “dreams” and “ambitions,” and the red color on the ball is meant to represent the intensity of the latter stages of the World Cup.

Along with the ball, Adidas released a pair of limited-edition Predator Telstar cleats as well as Telstar shin pads and goalkeeper gloves. These guys went all out for designs based on a ball that is only being used for just over two weeks.

What do you all think of this new World Cup ball design? Do you think Adidas should have kept the Telstar ball for the entirety of the tournament?
