If you haven’t heard already, Zinedine Zidane recently quit his role as manager at Real Madrid. The news comes just after he guided Los Blancos to their third Champions League final victory in three years — an incredible feat for a manager who was thrown into the deep end.
Much like LeBron James famously announcing he was taking his talents to South Beach, everyone is anticipating where Zidane will take his talents. But if recent reports are to be believed, Zidane is set to take over as head coach of the Qatar national team. Yep, you read that right. The Qatar national team.
Zidane stepped down as Real Madrid coach, he was earning 8million.

Could this be the reason he left Real Madrid? Even still, who in their right mind would leave Real Madrid for the Qatar national team? Unless there was one very important factor at play — money. Lots of money. We’re talking reports of approximately $66 million a YEAR. Imagine the things you could buy with that. Not to mention that the deal on the table would be a four-year deal.
Basic math tells you that by the end of his contract, Zidane would pocket a cool $264 million.
Early reports today are that Zinedine Zidane will become the new Manager of the Qatar national team!

If you have forgotten, Qatar is hosting the 2022 World Cup, and they would obviously want a big-name manager for the occasion. Given that they are hosting, the team has already qualified so Zidane would not have any problems on that front.
Maybe this whole Qatar thing will turn out to be nothing more than the rumor mill doing its thing in the summer. But if it does happen, Zidane will be one very happy man and can ride off into the sunset after his tenure in Qatar is done.
