What a fantastic weekend of soccer. So many brilliant goals, so many talking points. We compiled a list of ten of the best moments from the weekend, in no particular order.
10. Dutch club walks out with lingerie models instead of kids.
Dutch second-tier side RKC Waalwijk decided to celebrate Valentine's Day in style by having their players walk out with lingerie models instead of kids. Seeing as how they are rock bottom of the league and haven't won away all season, this is probably the best thing the fans could hope for.
9. Gianelli Imbula scores a zinger of a volley.
We think it's fair to say that new Stoke City signing Gianelli Imbula has been pretty good so far. He had an astonishing 95 percent passing accuracy in his first game for the club, and he's followed that up by slamming a brilliant volley right in the corner against Bournemouth. Xherdan Shaqiri has compared him to Patrick Viera, and he's certainly living up to that so far.
8. Erik Lamela nutmegs Nicholas Otamendi with a game-winning pass.
Skip to 3:30 on the video.
Erik Lamela hasn't quite lived up to his potential at Spurs (it wasn't that long ago that he was being touted as the new Messi) but he has improved significantly this season. Nothing showcases that more than this brilliant nutmeg pass to Christian Eriksen which resulted in the game-winning goal against Manchester City.
7. Leonardo Bonucci with the ridiculous interception against Napoli.
Saturday in Serie A saw a clash of the top-two between Juventus and Napoli, which The Old Lady narrowly scraped by 1-0. The win extends Juventus' winning streak to 15, but it could have been so different if Bonucci hadn't stolen the ball away from Gonzalo Higuain. We'd still put our money on Gigi Buffon to save it though.
6. James Rodriguez scores a cracker.
The Columbian has come under a lot of criticism lately for his attitude and his work rate, but he answered his critics in the best way possible with this killer strike. You can see from his celebration how much it meant to him.
5. Mark Clattenburg calls the worst penalty you'll ever see.
This isnt exactly one of the best moments from the weekend if you are a Manchester City fan. We're not sure if it even hit his arm. We're not convinced that his hand is in an unnatural position. Hell, we're not even sure it was in the box, even with the replay. So, how did Mark Clattenburg feel confident enough to award the penalty? Cue the calls for video technology. Here we go again.
4. Luis Suarez makes a really, really difficult shot look so easy.
Barcelona slaughtered Celta Vigo six-one with a lot of help from Luis Suarez, who was playing like a man possessed. We know, we know, Messi's penalty was cool. That's why it's not on this list, because we totally already wrote about that. Instead, we've included this goal because it is pure poetry in motion. The way that Suarez takes that first time is actually extraordinarily difficult to do. He made it look like nothing.
3. So does Ivan Rakitic.
It's not often you get so many memorable moments in one game. Everything about this: the run, the pass, the slight delay and chip over the keeper. Stunning.
2. Kasper Schmeichel pulls a Manuel Neuer.
Everyone likes to point out the fact that Kasper is the son of the goalkeeping legend Peter Schmeichel. This video proves it more than any DNA test ever could. If you are a budding young goalkeeper, take note of this. This is what they mean when they say you need to commit if you leave your area.
1. Danny Welbeck follows the script.
You just knew it was coming. Free kick outside of the area. Perfect angle for Mesut Ozil. Danny Welbeck back for the first time since April 2015. It couldn't have worked out any other way. Doesn't make it any less spine-tingling though. One of the best moments from the weekend.
