Valentine's day: the romance of a relationship somehow expressed over the course of one single day, or a 24-hour solo binge-fest on Haagen-Dazs’ latest fudge-brownie. Either way, it’s sure to be one of the better days of the year.
(If your date isn’t of the ice cream variety, you have some decisions to make. What do you do? Where do you eat? Do you go all out on that chocolate moat you read about in Cosmopolitan?)
But for a couple of lucky soccer fans, it just might have been the best day of all time. Vitesse Arnhem of the Eredivisie honored a pair of competition winners as VIP guests for their game against Heerenveen. Their prize? Watch the game pitchside, on a bed caked in rose petals, complete with a complimentary bottle of champagne.

Not exactly your standard dinner and a movie. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Maybe even order in, put on The Notebook, dim the lights, and bring out the fudge-brownie. Or not. Back to the soccer.)
Then there was the game, which proved to be a welcomed addition to the best day of all time. Vitessee did their best Barcelona impression, showcasing some delightful soccer while cruising to a 3-0 win. At one point, the players even took their celebrations to the very public bedroom — muddy boots, and all.

It all made for quite the spectacle. In fact, it inspired a poem from one of the lucky winners. (Full disclosure: this poem is in no way, shape, or form associated with either the man or woman from the game.)
Roses are red, violets are blue, I don’t know about you but I thought that free soccer game on the bed with rose petals was freaking AWESOME.
